Winter Woods - take 2!

Hello, last week I took part in a blog using a stamp set called Winter Woods.  I created two different backgrounds for my project as I was not sure which technique I wanted to showcase.  This meant I had a background left over and, obviously, I was not going to waste it was I?  So I had a bit of a play and turned it into a project.

Here is my project:

The colours I used:

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm

12 cm x 9 cm ww thick

10.5 cm x 14 cm brushed copper card plus extra for the trees

The die cutting:

I used one of my favourite Stitched Rectangle die to cut a panel from ww thick card.  I used the same sized die and the next largest to create a frame from brushed foil card.  Save the smaller rectangle to use on another project.

The stamping and colouring:

I stamped the trees onto the stitched rectangle using Memento ink.

Adding the colour:

I used sponge daubers to add colour to the trees.  My first attempt was soft and gentle (see below on the right).  If you want to see the original completed project you can find it HERE.

Then I got carried away and added lots more colour!

To assemble:

Adhere the copper frame to the front of the card using Foam Adhesive Strips.  Attach the die cut trees using tiny dabs of Tombow to the stamped and coloured panel.  Align the trunks carefully.  I added to the outside trees first then the next two and finally the centre one.  Trim off the excess trunks and adhere the panel to the card front with Tombow.

Top Tip:

I only applied Tombow to the trunks and the centre of the trees.  This allows the outside branches to lift slightly to create depth and dimension.

The inside:

I stamped a partial image on the inside and the envelope for a coordinated look.

The completed project:

I decided to leave my card without a sentiment and, although I did cut a curved piece of ground I decided that there was enough copper foil on my project without it.

I was pleased I was able to use the stamped panel; the copper trees help to disguise the fact that I got carried away with the sponge daubers!

Happy crafting.
