Cactus Cuties for Rosie!

Hello, as usual at this time of year I make a special card for my daughter Rosie whose birthday is on the 1st May.  This year I am using Cactus Cuties.  Rosie moved house recently and every time I visit her it seems a new cactus has appeared so this stamp set was perfect!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up!, Cactus Cuties,

I have used this bundle a lot, you can mix and match the pots and the different cactus plants to create many different combinations that are perfect for a quick and simple card or something a little more complex.

I had fun creating this and others like it for a Share It Sunday blog hop earlier this year.  You can see this project HERE.

I'm not really sure what this card fold is called - perhaps a fold flat pop up box?  Anyway, my daughter loves them and they do fold flat to fit in an envelope.

Here is my project:

The colours I used:

You will need:

You can find the instructions for the base of the card in my post from several years ago HERE.  You will also need some Designer Series Paper (DSP) and card for stamping, punching and die cutting.

The background:

I used one of the Basic Border Dies to cut out some cloud borders to use as templates.  I then used a blending brush and Balmy Blue ink to create a cloudy sky.

The stamping, punching and die cutting:

I stamped, punched and fussy cut an assortment of cacti and pots using a variety of inks.  I had a few left over die cuts from a previous project using Garden Greenhouse which I also used.  I also stamped some shrubs using the same bundle.

To assemble:

I cut panels of DSP 5mm small than the front and side panels and adhered with Tombow.  I then had fun arranging all the bits and pieces to create the scene.  I used both dimensionals and Tombow to adhere all the pieces.

The sentiment:

I cut a panel from Basic White Thick (BWT) card using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  The sentiment has been stamped with Memento, I do like a good pun don't you?  I used left over die cuts from a previous project to accent the panel too.

The reverse/envelope:

I stamped a pot and a cactus on the front of the envelope and added a little Balmy Blue ink with a blending brush to act as sky.  I cut a panel of BWT and stamped the same pot and cactus on the back and added Balmy Blue ink around the edges of the panel.  My birthday message was written on this panel and then it was adhered to the back of the card with Tombow.

The completed project:

I managed to resist adding left over cacti to the side panels and, looking at the photo below I am glad I did!

Rosie was delighted with her card and it has now joined the others - she has eight of these cards now, here they all are in a row!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up!,

I really like creating one off cards like this - lots of creative possibilities for using any stamp set you like to suit the recipients.

Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.  This useful stamp and punch bundle will be retiring at the end of June but, at the time of writing this post it is still available.

Apologies for the lack of photos with this post, it was a last minute project and I ran out of time but I am sure you will get the idea.

Happy crafting!
